Book Acquisition Partners

Thanks to a variety of partners, we have been able to purchase high-quality books at a significantly reduced rate. This means we put more books into the hands and homes of more children! These partners have made extraordinary efforts to help us get large quantities of books that children love.

Community Partners

Three Rivers partners with a wide variety of organizations to support reading in local communities. We’re all about supporting literacy, so if organizations are interested in improving literacy, we want to work with them! Through our partnerships, the Foundation has made a name for itself as a leader in children’s literacy.

  • Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations: Home literacy training for parents
  • Read and Rise Radio Program: Literacy panel for parents of children aged 0–5
  • First Things First Early Childhood Coalition (Arizona early literacy initiative): Joint planning meetings, shared community meetings and conferences
  • Backpack for Kids: Food and home supplies for low-income children; We contribute books for the backpacks
  • Montelores Early Childhood Council (Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Council): Participate in joint planning meetings, parent workshops, school program development; We have a leadership role in developing education programs for literacy
  • Kiwanis Club: Public presentations on the value of literacy and development of local literacy projects
  • Cortez (CO) Rotary Club: Presentations on community support for literacy
  • Books for Kids, AZ: Book distribution support and community events provider in east central Arizona
  • Save the Children International (early education initiative): Participation in regional community organization conferences
  • Best Foot Forward (Kindergarten Transition International): One of our regional coordinators is a coordinating member of this organization.
  • Four Corners Builders Association: Children’s story time and book give-aways during their annual home and garden show
  • Catholic Charities of El Paso: Book distribution, parent literacy workshops
  • La Casa Women’s Shelter, Portales, NM: Placement of Little Free Libraries and literacy development resources for mothers and children
  • Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Junior Amigos: Book distribution via community and business sites, tutoring promotion

  • League of Women Voters of Montezuma County, CO : Garnered support for placing and stocking Little Free Libraries
  • Colorado Children’s Campaign: Presented at the annual Kids Count seminar on issues relating to literacy among high-poverty students
  • Eastern Navajo Agency / Navajo National Tribal Government: Partnership to place Little Free Libraries at community chapter houses, tribal offices, and tribe-supported schools
  • County health facilities, northwest NM: Provide free books, parent information, and home literacy training to parents when they come for “well-baby” clinics
  • Back to School Family Institute: Presented at the annual conference
  • Reach Out and Read Arizona: Participation in planning conferences for literacy intiatives
  • Cortez Downtown Improvements Project: Participated in the Halloween Carnival and Parade of Lights to distribute books and encourage parents to read to their children
  • San Juan Board of Cooperative Educational Services (Department of Education regional support center): Presented at the Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching Regional Conference
  • Sierra Blanca Book Share Project: Collaborated on book distribution
  • Adult Literacy Volunteer Board: Facilitating local projects to increase adult literacy, access to books, and reading rate
  • Ohkay Owingeh, NM, Pueblo Tribal Offices: Book distribution in tribal centers, tutoring promotion, collaboration for literacy events
