1,000 Events—50,000 Community Members

Helping students improve their reading requires a community-wide effort, and Three Rivers Education Foundation is leading that effort in the communities we serve. Through parent workshops on encouraging and teaching reading at home, fun reading events for children, free books for children and families, and community and school events, we help build communities that support reading.

More than 50,000 parents and children have participated in more than 1,000 community literacy events.

Parent Workshops

The Foundation has provided nearly 500 workshops for parents on reading skills children need and teaching strategies and reading activities they can do at home. More than 17,000 parents attended these workshops.

At most workshops, parents also received resources, instructional supplies, and books.

Read-Alongs

Reading to children—and reading with children—is a powerful way to help children learn to love reading.

Three Rivers Education Foundation sponsors many events where older children, parents, and other adults read to children. With 600 read-along events, and more than 33,000 adults and children attending, the read-alongs have been a huge success.

Community and School Events

Nearly every community has some type of event where families gather. Schools, too, host many parent and family events. When they do, we will be there talking to parents, handing out free books, and encouraging children to read.
